President Barack Obama honored the Dallas Mavericks this afternoon, but he was still able to sneak in some love for the Chicago Bulls. While honoring the 2011 champions, Obama said, “It’s too bad that next year, it’ll be the Chicago Bulls here.” Buuuurn... He even snuck in a little jab at the owner, calling Mark Cuban "the shy and retiring owner," followed by a laugh. The Dallas Morning News posted the full transcript of the meeting.
And so I just want to give a heartfelt congratulations to all of you. I told them that it’s too bad that next year it will be the Chicago Bulls here, -- (laughter) -- but they said I shouldn’t be so confident. So congratulations, everybody. Give it up for the Dallas Mavericks. (Applause.)
With a 7-2 record, the Bulls are off to an amazing start. It's not unlikely Obama will have the chance to invite his hometown team to the White House.
