Way back when, Disappears guitarist Jonathan Van Herik told us about new material the band was working on at the time with new drummer Steve Shelley, saying that the band was "finding a nice balance between adding a bit more melody ... and [crystallizing] our old ideas of repetitive, but streamlined arrangements."

Several months later, the band announced their third record, titled Pre-Language, for a March release date on Kranky. On Wednesday, the band revealed the first single from Pre-Language, titled "Replicate." With a two-stomp bass-and-snare groove worthy of Motown, the post-punk snarl of Wire, and an explosive chorus, Disappears have taken what was really great before and made it even better--without "replicating" (Wocka Wocka) their sound from previous albums Lux and Guider. Download it below. Pre-Language drops March 1.
