Extra Extra: Audio Released From Midway Airport Near-Collision

  • The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the near-collision of two aircraft at Midway Airport, and they've released audio from the cockpit. The planes came within 300 feet of each other. [CNN]

  • Speaking of airports, many flights had already been canceled earlier today, but as of this afternoon as many as 500 flights have been canceled. [Crain's]

  • A 14-year-old boy was shot in the neck in Roseland today. [Fox]

  • The man who fled police and hid in a port-a-potty back in November died in custody today. [ABC7]

  • Some vegetarian food writer went to meat-centric restaurants in Kansas City and complained about there not being vegetarian meals available. Clearly he's just bitter about being assigned to work in the Midwest because we know the song doesn't say "amber waves of beef." [NY Times]
