Last Minute Plans: Panda Riot At The Burlington

By Sarah Cobarrubias in Arts & Entertainment on Jan 12, 2012 7:20PM

2012_01_12_Panda_Riot.jpg The cold weather has finally kicked in, and we could use some warm and fuzzy tunes to further delay the gloom of winter. Fortunately, Panda Riot delivers the kind of dreamy, shimmery pop that makes you forget all about winter, and they’re performing tonight at The Burlington.

We’ve actually been awaiting new material from Panda Riot for some time now. Back in September, the group announced that they were working on a new release, Northern Automatic Music, and even gave fans a little taste of their new music. Now four months later, still no release. But word has it they’re finishing up the process and preparing to drop the album through XD Records.

Anyhow, for tonight’s show, Panda Riot will bring along local experimental acts The Hummingbird and Jerome Baez. But if you can’t make it out to The Burlington tonight, don’t sweat it—Panda Riot will also play a free-with-RSVP show at the Empty Bottle this upcoming Tuesday. While you’re thinking it over, you can stream their last EP, Far And Near, over at their Bandcamp page.

Panda Riot plays tonight, Thursday, January 12 at The Burlington, 3425 W Fullerton, 9 p.m., $5, 21+
And Tuesday, Jan. 17 at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N Western, 9:30 p.m., Free with RSVP or $8, 21+
