It's the overtime losses that seem to hurt Blackhawks fans the most, especially those where they dig out of an early hole. Such was the case this afternoon at Joe Louis Arena. After the Red Wings claimed a 2-0 first period lead, an Andrew Shaw second period goal cut the deficit in half before Jonathan Toews forced the overtime period with 51.7 seconds left in regulation.
Then Detroit's Todd Bertuzzi sank the Hawks with his second goal of the game with 39 seconds left in the bonus round. It marked the Red Wings' 14th straight win at home, tying a record set in 1965. The stat that most stands out from this game is Detroit's 43-27 advantage in shots on goal. The Redwings held a 21-5 SOG advantage after twenty minutes of play.
