2012_01_17_Narrow_Sparrow.jpg Narrow Sparrow is a relatively new electropop act hailing from here in Chicago. We know—that statement that can be said of all too many bands, but the difference with these kids is their oddball approach to the genre. Listening to their debut EP, Synthworks, is a little bit like floating through space in your jammies—part bedroom pop and part dreamy space adventure.

The album’s second track, “Spooky Head,” is a shining example. It’s a lullaby-esque melody reminiscent of a 1950s high school slow dance, overlaid with oohing vocals and otherworldly, occasionally eerie synth sounds. And its follow-up track, "Glow," takes the album’s outer-space feel a step further with shimmering, psychedelic sounds and distorted, almost alien-like vocals.
