With Wikipedia blacked out for 24 hours, we can only imagine panic hitting the streets. There are undoubtedly some college students out there who have papers due today, and what the hell are they supposed to do? Copy entries out of an Encyclopedia Britannica?
In the interest of keeping calm and carrying on, here's an activity designed to smooth your feathers. Let's get drunk. Brought to you by the very sophisticated Chicagoist test kitchens, here are three SOPA Strike 2012 cocktail Recipes: the SOPA, the PIPA, and the original WikiBlackout Black Out Cocktail.
The SOPA
1 part Southern Comfort
1 part Orange Juice
1 part Pina Colada Mix
1 part Apricot Brandy
Mix and pour in a tall glass over ice. Garnish with mint leaves, maraschino cherries, and pirated content. Best enjoyed off shore.
The PIPA
1 shot Peppermint Schnapps
1 scoop of Ice Cream (Vanilla)
1 bottle of Porter or Stout (or other dark, creamy beer)
Andes mints
Place ice cream scoop in a large parfait glass. Pour the shot of schnapps over the ice cream. Pour in the porter or stout. Garnish with chopped Andes mints and the crushed dreams of start-up internet companies.
The WikiBlackout Black Out Cocktail
1 part Black Sambuca
1 part milk
2 parts whiskey
Black Twizzlers
Mix all ingredients in a shaker and pour over ice in a short glass. Garnish with the Black Twizzlers. Stir slowly and wait it out until the blackout is over.
