It's been a while since Father Michael Pfleger has been in the news; staying on the good side of Cardinal Francis George must get boring. The leader of St. Sabina parish sent out a press release today that sees him taking aim for the low-hanging fruit of ABC's reality show The Bachelor.

Pfleger said in the statement, "If we get mad at the negativity of rappers degrading women, why can’t we be angry about producers degrading women."

Pfleger described the show as "Scantily dressed bachelorettes go to various cities including San Francisco, to cry and win the hearts of ‘The Bachelor.’ They cry, fight and plot against each other acting as if they are a piece of meat being dangled from a hook for the bachelor’s selection. In one episode, the bachelorettes climbed the San Francisco Bridge and even went skiing in bikinis. They fell and purposely bent over just so the bachelor could see their most private parts.” Sounds like the reverend may be watching it regularly, if it isn't appointment television.

While he's not wrong, Pfleger could as easily have made the argument that The Bachelor, and The Bachelorette, contributes to the overall decline of Western Civilization. Pfleger spokeswoman Chinta Strausburg said he made his remarks during a Tuesday Bible study class and was so impressed by the gravitas of his words he decided to publicize them
