Morning Box Score: Illinois' Problems With Penn State Continue

Five of the last eight games between Illinois and Penn State have been decided by five points or less. The Illini's struggles with the Nittany Lions continued last night in Creepy, er, Happy Valley. Penn State's defense forced the Illini into shooting 34 percent for the game and an eight-minute scoreless stretch between the first and second halves. Illini center Meyers Leonard fouled out, which gave Nittany Lions point guard Tim Frazier a chance to attack the basket. Frazier's floater with eight seconds left gave Penn State the victory, and a block of a Sam Maniscalo layup at the other end preserved it.
Brandon Paul led all scorers with 20 points as Illinois started the game by putting four guards on the floor. Leonard added 15. Penn State was led by Cameron Woodyard's 17 points. Frazier contributed 12.
