Starting Monday, there's another new food truck to track. Downtown bakery E. Leaven Food Company's roving orange truck officially hits the streets on Wednesday, but if you spot it Monday or Tuesday, you'll score free sandwiches, baked goods, and vouchers for future visits to the truck.

I previewed the truck's offerings this week and found a mix of breakfast and lunch items pulled from the menu at the brick and mortar store. Breakfast includes yogurt parfaits and short rib-stuffed pockets called piewichs (though I would totally eat these for lunch). The lunch menu features soups, salads, and sandwiches like a satisfying turkey and Brie sandwich, chopped Mediterranean salad, and matzo ball soup. The dessert menu includes macarons, rugelach, and carrot and chocolate cakes served in a cup. While I rarely go to a food truck (the curse of working from my Lakeview home!), the idea of being able to get a non-Starbucks cup of coffee and a muffin downtown when I’m shopping downtown mid-week (the joy of working from home!) is appealing.

The truck’s route isn’t set yet, but they’ll be focused downtown and Tweeting their whereabouts @eleaven.
