Chinatown can be a bit bewildering for some; there are so many options, and for those unfamiliar with the neighborhood or the cuisine (at least beyond orange chicken and egg rolls) it can be tough to figure out. We've known many people who went to Chinatown once, had a bad meal and never returned. No more! Serious Eats Chicago has come to the rescue.

Tony Hu's restaurants are always a good bet for Chinatown newcomers - we're particularly fond of Lao Hunan, but they are all worth a visit. Nick Kindelsperger, one of our go-to men for all things food, has gone through his 14 favorite dishes from Tony Hu's joints, and it's definitely worth a read.

Our #1 Dish - Tony's three-chili chicken, which Nick (and LTH forum) affectionately calls "crack chicken." We're also a fan of the Chili Fish Filets and the Ground Pork with Sour Pickle at Lao Hunan. Read the whole list - but be prepared to deal with the resulting cravings.
