In Pictures: The Kills And Jeff The Brotherhood At The Riviera

By Samantha Abernethy in Arts & Entertainment on Jan 23, 2012 7:00PM

The Kills and Jeff The Brotherhood took the stage at the Riviera Theatre Friday night, playing hot enough to melt the fresh snow outside. The Orrall brothers of Jeff The Brotherhood found themselves caught in Friday night's snowstorm and hit the stage a little late. It was worth waiting for, and they satisfied us with their psychedelic-tinged garage rock in their shortened set.

And then came The Kills. Alison Mosshart immediately established herself as a force to be reckoned with, hitting the stage like a hurricane. Her presence was so electrifying, we nearly forgot there were other folks on stage: guitarist Jamie Hince and a couple of masked drummers hidden in the back corner.

Hince's unrelenting riffs supported Mosshart's undulating movements, as she seemingly occupied the whole stage at once. We had a chance to interview her in June 2010 when she was in town with her other project The Dead Weather. She told us, "there's nothing better than getting to perform every night." Well it looks like she's still having fun.
