The FBI Terrorism Task Forces arrested Jamshid Muhtorov, 35, of Aurora, Colo., who is a refugee from Uzbekistan. Officials say there is no evidence he was planning attacks inside the U.S.
The Department of Justice said the Islamic Jihad Union has been blamed for suicide attacks in Uzbekistan, and claimed responsibility for numerous attacks against coalition forces in Afghanistan. The Justice Department said the Pakistan-based organization is an extremist group that seeks to replace the current regime with a government based on Islamic law.
Muhtorov is in custody in Illinois, but a judge ordered his transfer to Denver soon.
