Do This: Gapers Block's First Annual BBQ Bowl

Our friends over at Gapers Block have put together a nice lineup of contestants for their inaugural BBQ Bowl at Club Lucky Feb. 4. As of post time, restaurants confirmed to compete include Honey 1 BBQ, Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro, The Piggery, Pork Shoppe, Honky Tonk BBQ, Rub BBQ Company and Club Lucky. All will be putting their best low and slow ribs or rib tips forward for all to critique.

$25 gets you samples from each competing restaurant and a choice of two Southern-inspired sides from Club Lucky chef Alfredo Anaya. There will be a judges competition and a peoples choice vote. Judges for the BBQ Bowl include Weber Grill catering director Erin Shovlin, CookItFor.Us CEO Moshe Tamssot, Cook County Commissioner John Fritchey and myself. The winners will be announced at 2 p.m. and local soul band The Congregation will perform throughout. The event rund from Noon - 3 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at the door or online at this link.
