With all the press being given to Blue Ivy Carter, the chosen child of Jay-Z and Beyoncé, one would think the baby is being groomed to be a messiah.

If reports are true that Hova and Sasha Fierce have chosen Oprah Winfrey to be Babyoncé's godmother, that could be in the cards. The news, first reported by the website Media Takeout, cites unnamed sources as saying Winfrey has been chosen as the baby's godmother, while Tyran Smith, a friend of Jay-Z, as godfather.

If the reports are valid, Winfrey could make a wise choice as godmother. She's a self-made demographic of one who's the embodiment of the American Dream, with a cult of followers who hang on her every word.

The wisdom she could pass on to Blue Ivy would be useful.
