Man, the internet can be a scary place. Will County and Cook County police have arrested a 25-year-old suburban man who was posting on Craigslist trying to arrange for meetings with fathers "willing to share their daughters." Once arrested, the man thanked police for saving him from his addiction to child porn.

Police caught Brandon J. Bergthold of Frankfort Square through an internet sting after two months of investigations. An officer pretended to offer him his non-existent 6-year-old girl, and prosecutors say Bergthold pushed for a meeting in recent weeks.

The Sun-Times writes:

“Bergthold’s demeanor changed,” [Will County Sheriff Paul] Kaupas said. “He communicated a sense of urgency in wanting to meet with the undercover officer and the ... child. We became worried that he may seek out an unsuspecting victim if we did not end this investigation.”

So arrangements were made, and prosecutors said Bergthold drove to the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway to meet them. They also said he hoped to have sex with the non-existent 11-year-old female cousin of the undercover officer.

Furthermore, Bergthold had posted more than 117 disturbing messages to Craigslist looking for some disturbing stuff, including women who wanted to be raped and women who'd wear diapers. He is currently being held on $750,000 bail.
