Indiana School Bus Driver Arrested For Driving Bus Full of Kids While Drunk

Once again, readers, our rule about crime stories from Indiana has been validated. A woman from Portage was arrested for DUI yesterday after she drove a school bus full of fifth-graders on a field trip drunk.

Kolleen Lampa, a bus driver for Portage High School Transportation, was shuttling a group of 44 kids and two teachers when another driver smelled alcohol on her breath and the two got into an argument. Lampa re-boarded her bus and drove it about three miles before pulling into the parking lot at Portage High School and lost her shit.

The second school bus driver stopped Lampa from getting back on the bus, Lampa's supervisor, David Harman, took Lampa to a hospital, where she blew 0.139 and 0.129 on two separate breath tests. at that point, Harman decided to take her back to the Transportation building and call police. Portage police submitted Lampa to two more blood tests, where she blew a 0.057 and 0.09. Lampa told police she only had a glass of wine with dinner the night before. (Must have been one hell of a glass.)

Lampa was charged with one felony count and two misdemeanor counts of operating while intoxicated and a felony count of neglect of a dependent. She was released after posting $1,000 bail.
