Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela and brother to cross-over star Femi, returns to the United States for a cross-country 30-date tour touching down in Chicago on April Fools' Day at the House of Blues. Tickets are for the 17+ show on sale now for $25. Seun has been leading his father Fela's legendary Egypt 80 band since he was 14 years old, after his father died of AIDS in 1997. However, Seun Kuti did not release his own recorded material with the band until 2008's excellent throwback Many Things, which he followed up with last year's equally strong From Africa With Fury: Rise. Listen to "Rise," which makes use of Afrobeat's trademark mix of funk, jazz, African polyrhythms, and righteously furious political protest, below.
