See Food: Green City Winter Market

By Anthony Todd in Food on Feb 8, 2012 8:00PM

The Green City Winter Market lets lovers of local food feed their addiction when the weather is cold and grey. If you think there's nothing but potatoes at a winter farmer's market, take a look at some of these photos from last Saturday's winter market. Root vegetables and storage produce may be the starts of the show, but we managed to pick up local lettuce, kale and apples. Plus, baby potatoes and carrots from the market, even if they've been in storage for a few months, are still nicer than those tired Idaho potatoes in the supermarket.

This slideshow doesn't even go into the meat, cheese and pastry options. If you want to check out the winter market, head to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum any Saturday from now until April. Next week, Chef Cleetus Friedman of City Provisions will be hosting the chef demo, which starts at 10:30 a.m..
