Chicago Mixtape Celebrates Its First Anniversary

By Samantha Abernethy in Arts & Entertainment on Feb 10, 2012 5:40PM

2012_02_10_mixtape.jpg Chicago Mixtape celebrates its first anniversary Saturday night with a killer show at Subterranean to commemorate their 52nd free weekly mixtape. The anniversary party includes performances by The Shams Band, Elephant Gun, Architecture and The Damn Choir.

Now if you haven't heard any of these bands, here is where Chicago Mixtape comes in handy. Every week email subscribers receive a mix with music by bands playing in Chicago that week. It's a great way to decide which shows are worth your time. Plus, they keep a calendar of all of the mixtape alums' shows in Chicago.

So your next move is to go sign up on the Mixtape site and give those bands a listen. And once you see what you've been missing, you might want to buy a premium membership to explore their archives and download old tapes.

Tickets for Saturday's show are $10. Also, RSVP with Do312 for some free beer.

Check out the Chicago Mixtape site to sign up for your free weekly mix and download some of the tunes you can hear tomorrow at the Subterranean.

Subterranean, 2011 W. North Ave., Doors at 8 p.m., 21+, $10
