These days it seems as though City Provisions' Cleetus Friedman is as much a brewer as he is a butcher, baker, caterer and candlestick maker. Local chefs collaborating with regional breweries is so commonplace these days they're akin to changing a pair of socks or underwear. But Friedman's efforts, in particular, are inspired efforts in brewing, networking and furthering Friedman's localvore philosophy.

Friedman's latest brewing adventure took him to New Holland Brewing, which is no stranger to hosting chefs with an interest in beer. (See our 2009 series where we followed Paul Kahan as he brewed with New Holland.) Friedman brewed a chocolate malted milk stout with New Holland's Brandon MacClaren at the brewery's pub. That beer, Marsha Mallow's Malted Milk Stout, is ready for release. New Holland will be serving it at their brewpub, and it's worth the trip to head up there. Closer to home, Friedman is debuting the beer at City Provisions Deli Feb. 17 from 6-9 p.m.

Friedman is a serious beer enthusiast and his collaboration with Greenbush Brewing, Terminator X, was one of our favorite beers of 2011. There's little reason to believe that he won't come correct here.
