One For The Road: Happy Birthday, Chris Farley

By Samantha Abernethy in Arts & Entertainment on Feb 15, 2012 11:40PM

Today is Chris Farley's birthday.

He was born in Madison and studied at Marquette University before he joined Second City in Chicago. He was 33 years old when he died of an overdose. Today he would be 48.

The video below is surreal. It is a C-SPAN video of the House Republican Conference Meeting in 1995. First, the real John Boehner (who is now the Speaker of the House) introduces the real then-Speaker Newt Gingrich, but Chris Farley quickly joins him at the podium, in character. Gingrich took a seat and giggled while Farley nailed the impression.

Highlights: At the 5:45 mark, he jokes about making Sonny Bono sing "I've got you, Newt."
And at the 7:15 mark Farley asks Gingrich, "How's our wife Marianne?" And at 8:25 Farley sneaks in a plug for Tommy Boy.
