Buyer Beware: Beach Boys Reunion Presale Tickets Go On Sale Tomorrow

One of the more cringe-worthy moments from Sunday's Grammy Awards telecast—besides unapologetic domestic abuser Chris Brown being a significant part of the telecast—was the reunion of The Beach Boys with Brian Wilson, who was responsible for writing the hits that have made the band an annual staple on the summer shed circuit. The group announced a 37-date summer tour, including a headlining spot at Bonnaroo and a slot at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
If this tour makes it past Bonnaroo, I'll be surprised. Wilson has made remarkable progress reclaiming his life from the mental illness that trapped him in a shell during the 1970s and 80s, but damn if he didn't look uncomfortable alongside his bandmates (and Maroon 5 and Foster the People) Sunday night. Granted, Wilson has never seemed comfortable onstage, but at least his solo band gives him some measure of security. In The Beach Boys he's going to have to contend with the colossal ego of Mike Love, whose ballcap must have been surgically attached to his scalp years ago. (You're going to be 71 next month, Mike. At this stage in your life it's okay to admit you're bald.)
In between the New Orleans Jazz and Bonnaroo appearances is a May 21 concert at The Chicago Theatre. Tickets officially go on sale for that show Monday at 8 p.m., but internet presale tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow. I would love to see this show happen without a hitch, but I'm not that confident.
