If your father is the best chef in America, what do family gatherings look like? For Grant Achatz and family, apparently a campout in front of the fireplace. How sweet! Last night, Achatz tweeted the picture above and identified it as "Boys idea: 'House camp out' Roast poussin in fireplace. Fort tent in living room."

Of course, his chef de cuisine at Next, David Beran, and business partner Nick Kokonoas couldn't hold back a bit of ribbing. Achatz warned Beran that there was fennel in the mirepoix, which Beran identified as "so much fennel." Kokonoas responded "let's see the finished product!!" Achatz: "you calling me out Nick??" Kokonas: "I've tried the fireplace route. It's not easy. No cheating with an oven, chef."

Uh oh. That's not what you say to the most important chef in the world. Achatz responded "well...the difference is...I can cook." Kokonas showed some humor about Achatz's signature radical cuisine, pointing out that Achatz could cook "foams, balloons, and assorted exotica. This is fire, man. No induction. Call me when you need help."

We hope the dinner turned out wonderfully.
