  • The Chicago Transit Authority is auctioning off unused supplies to raise cash. They'll be selling off tons of heaters, rod ends and spools of copper wire collecting dust in the agency's warehouse. [Tribune]

  • Two were killed and five were wounded in a shooting at the Budget Food and Liquor Store in the 2500 block of East 79th Street in the South Shore neighborhood Monday night. Witnesses say a beige car drove up and opened fire. A 19-year-old inside the store and a 61-year-old man outside the store were killed. Police say it is unclear who was the intended target. [CBS]

  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the city is pouring nearly half a million dollars into transforming Chicago's city college system, starting with a new health care center at Malcolm X College. [ABC7]
