PHOTOS: Zola Jesus At Lincoln Hall

Zola Jesus performed a powerful set at Lincoln Hall Tuesday night, belting out ethereal sounds over a pulsing electronic beat. Cloaked in a thick fog, she seemingly floated across the stage through the blue lights. It had the crowd swaying along and sometimes happily dancing in spite of the music's gothic sentiment. That show has us listening to her album Conatus again today with renewed appreciation.

Singer-songwriter Chris Connelly opened the show with an acoustic set, then electro-punk duo Talk Normal took off with a relentless din, pounding out roaring experimental sounds with a howl. We'll be seeking out that Brooklyn-based duo again.
