Blackhawks' Toews In Minor Car Crash

Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews was involved in an automobile accident in the Loop this morning. The accident occurred around 10 a.m. at Lake and Garvey and eyewitnesses say Toews was taken away in an ambulance.
The Blackhawks released a statement that indicated he wasn't injured in the crash.
This comes a day after WSCR-AM reported that the "upper body injury" that has Toews currently sidelined is actually a concussion suffered Feb. 10 in San Jose. We aren't saying the two are related, since neither the Blackhawks nor NHL still recognize Toews' injury as a concussion.
However, if he did get his bell rung and is still dealing with the aftereffects, here's what Nathan Zazsler, MD, has to say about driving with a sports concussion.
"In simple terms, no athlete should return to competitive sports until he or she is symptom free — both at rest and with exercise — and follow-up neurocognitive testing is once again normal. These symptoms would include sleep problems, fatigue, problems with concentration or memory, depression or anxiety. If any of these symptoms persist then driving would not be advisable."
Maybe Toews should enlist in a car service until his "upper body injury" has completely healed.
