More Than 50 Restaurants Extend Restaurant Week Deals

By Anthony Todd in Food on Feb 27, 2012 4:00PM

2012_1_16_CRW.jpg Waiting to see which restaurants will extend their restaurant week deals for the rest of February has become and annual event just as popular and predictable as Restaurant Week itself. On Wednesday, press releases started to trickle in announcing the extensions, and they have now reached a critical mass — almost a quarter of the restaurants involved have extended. Why don't we just start calling February Restaurant Month?

Of course, the reason restaurants do this is because February is otherwise the deadest month of they year. Restaurant Week is a slightly healthier version of running a Groupon (in the same way that cocaine is a slightly healthier version of crack); cash in your pocket right away, despite the crazy crowds and downsized menus. Why would anyone give it up?

Only one (Cafe des Architectes) of our restaurant week recommendations have extended, and a lot of the restaurants extending deals are, let's face it, pretty mediocre. But there are a few gems. If you haven't tried Bar Toma yet, it has extended its deal through March 4. The Stew has a complete list.

Be sure to note dates and times. Since this is no longer an official part of Restaurant Week, every restaurant is handling it a little differently.
