Chicago Dominates Food and Wine's Best New Chef: Great Lakes List

By Anthony Todd in Food on Mar 5, 2012 6:20PM

2012_3_5_FoodandWine.png After making a damn good showing in the Food and Wine inaugural Best New Pastry Chef Awards, Chicago has now displayed its total dominance over the region in the Best New Chef: Great Lakes People's Choice nominations that were released this morning. Seven of the 10 nominees are from Chicago, and represent some of the best new restaurants in recent years. Cast your vote now.

We're particularly excited that some of Chicago's less fancy restaurants were included on this list. It's easy for awards lists to only include four-star meals downtown that no one can afford, but Food and Wine also included local favorites like Telegraph, Ruxbin and Nightwood. Voting is open until March 11, and the chef with the most votes will be named The People's Best New Chef.

Included on the list are:

John Anderes of Telegraph
Jimmy Bannos of The Purple Pig
Danny Grant of Ria
Edward Kim of Ruxbin
Anthony Martin of Tru
Chris Pandel of The Bristol
Jason Vincent of Nightwood
