Last-Minute Plans: Drinking Spelling Bee At Ace Bar

Remember that episode of WKRP in Cincinnati where a policeman tried to show the effects of alcohol on a person's reflexes by having Dr. Johnny Fever take a shot every five minutes and hit a buzzer, only to see Fever's reflexes get better as he drank? Yeah, that doesn't happen in real life.

The humor in a drunken spelling bee is watching the contestants' reaction times as they struggle to spell words between shots. But the emcees also pitch in, furthering the contest along where necessary.

Tonight at Ace Bar (1505 W. Fullerton Ave.) host Zach Benkowski will have the honors of making sure tonight's drinking spelling bee goes smoothly. DJ Yoo Soo Kim will provide beats and the $5 gets you a free drink, "prizes and candy." bring a Thesaurus and maybe eat an alcohol absorbing meal before. Tickets are available online.
