Pencil This In: Linsanity: What's Behind The Hype At Jane Addams Hull-House Museum
By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Mar 6, 2012 6:40PM
The hype surrounding New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin is starting to cool slightly, but his emergence on the national stage will still serve as the subject of a March 12 discussion at the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, presented by The Public Square, a program of the Illinois Humanities Council.
Original thought pieces by the likes of Dave Zirin, Rachel DeWoskin, Claire Kim, Mark Anthony Neal, Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai, Kimberly Springer, Dave Stovall, and Alison Cuddy will serve to explore sports, identity and the cultural landscape in America, race and racism, masculinity or gender issues, sports as a reflection of society, media criticism, and the Lin hype itself. The discussion is free to the public and begins at 5 p.m. It should end in time for you to catch the Bulls/Knicks game later that evening.
