Suburban Detroit Councilman Beaten For Defending Blackhawks Fan

Here's another example of what can happen when someone takes sports too seriously. A councilman for a suburban Detroit town was attacked by a Detroit Red Wings fan because a friend of his son went to Sunday's game against the Blackhawks at Joe Louis arena wearing a Blackhawks jersey.
Robert Abraham's took his 22-year-old son, a senior at Loyola, and two of his son's friends to Sunday's contest. His son's friends wore Blackhawks jerseys to Hockeytown and—after the Hawks handed Detroit a 2-1 loss—were waiting to be picked up by Abraham's wife when some jackass took umbrage with the kids wearing the Hawks sweater. Abraham tried to get the guy back into his car, but instead was assaulted with his wife and daughter 10 feet away in her car.
Abraham was driven to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he received four stitches to close a wound over his left eye.
"I'm a little sore and bruised and battered, but overall I'm going to be OK so I'm thankful for that," he said. "I guess that was the fortunate part, I was trying to prevent anything from happening to the boys. Unfortunately, it happened to me."
Detroit Police are investigating and hope surveillance camera footage will turn up something leading to the arrest of the attacker.
