Free health screenings, assessments and information are available at Saint Xavier University’s Ninth Annual Health Fair on Friday, March 23. The fair, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Shannon Center at the University's Chicago campus. (3700 W. 103rd St.) Those attending the fair can take advantage of a wide variety of free testing services, including blood pressure screenings, bone density screenings, hearing and vision screenings, foot screenings, cervical spine screenings, blood glucose screenings, injury assessments, postural assessment, shoe assessments and more. New to this year's Health Fair are CrossFit demonstrations by CrossFit Beverly, as well as demonstrations of fitness apps and healthy technology by Best Buy. Reflexology and mini chair massages will be offered free of charge. Information will be available on nutrition, heath, and wellness with healthy cooking demonstrations from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Heartland Blood Centers will also be hosting a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Shannon Center parking lot.
Chicago's Only Castle is a documentary about the 125-year history of Givins Irish Castle in Beverly and the keepers of the structure. The documentary aims to preserve and publicize the history of the iconic Castle and its five keepers, and to raise money for its preservation and maintenance. The Chicago History Museum will screen Chicago's Only Castle 1:30 p.m. Sunday as part of its Project Sunday series. A Q&A session with filmmaker Errol Magidson immediately follows the screening.
