Jody Weis Resigns As Chicago Crime Commission Chief

Former Chicago Police Department Superintendent Jody Weis resigned as the head of the Chicago Crime Commission as of yesterday.

It may seem that Weis is having a tough time catching a break these days, as he was in charge of the commission only for eight months before resigning and was not offered a new contract as Police Superintendent after Mayor Daley left office.

However short his term with the Chicago Crime Commission, Weis insists that he decided to turn in the towel to focus on more personal pursuits, rather than giving into any outside pressure regarding his performance on the job. Although Weis didn't necessarily have the easiest year on the job, he had nothing but nice words to say about his stint as a public figure:

"I feel extremely fortunate to have been a part of such a terrific organization and learn first-hand the role non-profit organizations can play in support of the men and women on the front lines keeping our city safe. It has been an honor and a pleasure to have served the Chicago Crime Commission, its devoted membership, and the City of Chicago." Weis said in a statement.

As stated in the press, Weis will be replaced by J.R. Davis, who is the current Chairman of the Chicago Crime Commission.
