The Blackhawks and Rangers skated through a hot final 20 minutes of action after a 1-1 tie through two periods. Johnny Oduya's goal at 14:04 in the third proved to be the game winner. Oduya also assisted on Andrew Shaw's second period goal. Patrick Kane's empty netter with 53 seconds left was a necessary insurance goal after New York's Brad Richards' slap shot made it past Ray Emery 12 seconds later. Emery had 22 saves and stopped all six of the shots he faced on the penalty.

The Blackhawks are still firmly in sixth place in the NHL's Western Conference standings.
