Life is usually very good for Derrick Rose. Monday was one of the really good days. He was sky high, literally and figuratively, as he stopped the Linsanity on the court and bought himself a deluxe apartment in the sky.
But sometimes even the reigning MVP can have a bad day. A no good, very bad day Just ask D-Rose how Tuesday went for him.
First, Rose learned that his pointed comments about the officiating following the Knicks game will cost him $25,000, the first fine of his career. After a game in which Rose felt he repeatedly did not get foul calls he should have, he uncharacteristically lashed out, "I have to be the only superstar in the league that's going through what I'm going through right now."
Then, Rose missed practice because of a sore groin that required a MRI exam. Having already missed games due to turf toe and a bad back, Rose doesn't want to miss more time with an injury, especially with the Miami Heat coming to town tonight.
But the groin may be just one of the ailments afflicting the Bulls point guard. On the way to see the doctor for that MRI yesterday, his Bentley was rear ended on the Kennedy Expressway.
Heading southbound near Ogden, Charles Trautwein of Dundalk, Maryland slammed his 2002 Saturn into Rose's fancy ride. Rose refused medical treatment at the scene, but he was on his way to the doctor already so it's unknown whether he suffered any additional bumps or bruises along with the ones his car suffered.
We know that St. Patrick's Day is still a few days off, but perhaps D-Rose could start wearing his green St. Paddy's Day shoes early. He needs all the "Luck o' the Irish" he can find about now.
