Another 17-year-old high temperature mark was shattered in suddenly sub-tropical Chicago today. The old record of 74 degrees was eclipsed as of 2 p.m., when the mercury reached 77 degrees. The current reading from Accuweather is 79.

The "pneumonia front" that's supposed to roll in should be happening in a few short minutes. Accuweather's hourly forecast shows the mercury plunging 30 degrees by 6 p.m., and the thunderstorms and fog in the forecast will roll in by sunset.

Dress accordingly if you have plans. It won't be feeling like summer tonight.
