iPad Mania Hits Chicago

Right now Chicago's two Apple stores and other retail outlets are in the throes of iPad mania with the release of the latest version of the computer giant's tablet. SFist editor Brock Keeling live blogged Apple CEO Tim Cook's address announcing the details of the new model a couple weeks back. But Cook could simply have gone on stage and said "new iPad" and we'd be looking at people waiting in line at Apple stores across the country.
The Sun-Times introduces us today to Dawn Citino, an Apple fan who started the line outside the Michigan Avenue Apple store last night. Citino expressed surprise there were only 131 people in line waiting to purchase the new iPad when she spoke with the Sun-Times. Both the Michigan Avenue and North/Clybourn Apple stores implemented a ticketing system to ensure those who camped out would have an honest shot at purchasing an iPad.
Citino said she expected to spend roughly $1,200 on hers. Based on what we know about the iPad, we can guess she's likely buying the 64 GB model with wifi and 4G capability; a bargain at $829.
