I bought a ticket to last night's underground dinner at Girl & the Goat featuring dishes made from a Kilgus Farms pig, beer pairings from Stillwater Artisanal Ales and a sneak peek at RedStreak, the first offering from Greg Hall's Virtue Cider, held in one of the restaurant's basement storage rooms

Stephanie Izard and her crew put together an amazing dinner including a rich porketta, artichoke fideos with pork sausage and head cheese with sunchoke custard, mizuna greens and bacon broth, while the Stillwater ales impressed with each course.

Our favorite dish was the one pictured above: barbeque pork on fried naan with citrus slaw. Izard has been slowly working on the menu for her diner, The Little Goat, which will open later this year in the old Red Light space across the street from Girl & the Goat. She said this dish was an example of the concept she's trying to achieve for The Little Goat. "Imagine eating this pork, as presented, between two pieces of fried naan," she told the group of 20 diners.

I could, but it was more fun to fold the naan like a gordita and eat it by hand. Screw decorum.
