Illinois GOP Voters Certain On Romney, Not So Sure On Obama's Birthplace, Religion

2012_03_11_obama.jpg In a survey of 506 probable Illinois Republican primary voters conducted by Public Policy Polling, 45 percent of respondents said they would cast their ballots for Romney. His strongest support tends to be in urban (46-23) and suburban (50-29) areas.

This comes as no surprise, but what we’re still amazed by are some of the other questions asked of these voters and their responses.

According to the survey:

- 39 percent believe that President Obama is a Muslim, and 37 percent aren’t sure if he’s a Christian.

- 36 percent believe Obama was not born in the United States; 28 percent aren’t sure.

- 43 percent do not believe in evolution.

- 16 percent believe that interracial marriage should be illegal, and 9 percent aren’t sure.

There you have it, Illinois. The majority of those surveyed believe the President is a foreign born non-Christian, and some of them are still scared he’ll let your children marry outside his or her race or force them to believe the Earth is more than 6,000 years old.
