2012_3_22_cuervo.jpg A group of youths who tried to mug a 71-year-old man in Englewood yesterday found the lion in winter still had some roar.

The man, a liquor distributor, fended off the wannabe muggers with a sample bottle of tequila. The incident occurred after he left a sales call at a liquor store on the 5900 block of South Halsted when he was surrounded by five teens, who grabbed for his briefcase and started pushing him around.

The man, according to the Tribune's Chicago Breaking News, managed to ward the gang off by raising his sample tequila bottle above his head in a defensive position long enough for him to enter his car and dial 911. Police captured two of them near the scene of the incident. The other three were apprehended after a footchase.

Two of the kids, 18-year-old Jesse Jackson and 17-year-old Demetrius Shields, were charged as adults with with felony attempted robbery of a senior. The other three, including an 11-year-old, were charged as juveniles with attempted robbery of a senior.

Right now we want to do shots with that liquor salesman.
