A Coal City man arrested on robbery charges was identified in part due to his poor choice of tattoos. Jack R. McMillan was picked out of police lineups because of a large nameplate tattoo on his neck with the words "Mama Tried" encircled in barbed wire on one side of his neck, and letters and symbols on the other. (We can assume the former makes him a Merle Haggard fan.)

McMillan is accused of robbing a convenience store and a fast food restaurant in Coal City with a BB handgun that he allegedly told police he altered to resemble a more menacing firearm. A manager of the fast food joint and a clerk at the convenience store picked him out of the lineup, and police detectives in nearby Wilmington, responding to a "critical reach" bulletin, also identified McMillan.

This is yet another example of why one should think twice before getting a neck tattoo, folks.
