Last Minute Plans: God vs. Hall and Oates at Drinking & Writing Theater

Tomorrow, the Drinking & Writing Theater will begin a five-week run of its new show, "God vs. Hall and Oates." Seven deadly sins. Seven platinum albums. It's on.
If you haven't caught the Drinking & Writing guys doing their thing around town, it's time. Former Neo-Futurists Steve Mosqueda and Sean Benjamin have been forging a unique vision of alcohol-fueled creativity in their weekly radio show and on stage in original productions at Haymarket Pub & Brewery. This Saturday, they bring beer and performance together with their signature snark. Follow carefully.
"Why Hall & Oates? Many reasons including the seven platinum albums, the sinful lyrics, and Daryl Hall's dabbling in Thelema in his early days of fame. Thelema is the religion/philosophy founded by writer and magician Aleister Crowley, ("Mr. Crowley" from Black Sabbath fame) based upon the edict, "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law."
For the opening of the show, Haymarket will release Aleister, a double IPA. Gluttony be damned, drink up while Mosqueda and Benjamin bring literary references to bear on their attempts to debunk the seven deadly sins.
Hall & Oates is oddly solidifying its place in the Chicago craft beer community. Earlier this month, the Goose Island marketing team reworked "You Make My Dreams (Come True)" into "You're Drinking a 312."
God vs. Hall and Oates opens at 4 p.m. this Saturday at Haymarket Pub & Brewery and will run on Saturdays through April. Tickets available here.
