Afternoon Box Score: Durant, Westbrook Too Much For Bulls

By Chuck Sudo in News on Apr 1, 2012 7:30PM

Oklahoma City 92, Bulls 78

The Oklahoma City Thunder made a statement this afternoon, with or without Derrick Rose in the Bulls lineup. As good as the Bulls' defense is night after night, the Thunder is just as good, holding Chicago to a season low 33 percent shooting from the field, and led from tipoff to the final buzzer. The Thunder lead by nearly 30 points late in the third period before both teams emptied their benches.

Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, the best duo in the league, showed why each will earn MVP consideration. Westbrook scored 26 and, without Rose in the lineup, had free rein to drive to the hoop—as he did in his third quarter poster jam over Omer Asik—while Durant scored 26. The Bulls were led by John Lucas III's 19 points (on 7-20 shooting). Kyle Korver added 14 points.
