The man accused of killing members of singer Jennifer Hudson's family will be able to get a haircut before his trial starts, a judge ruled today. William Balfour, 30, will also be allowed to wear civilian clothes instead of his jail uniform during the trial, according to the Sun-Times.

Hudson's mother and brother were found dead in their Englewood home on the morning of Oct. 24, 2008. Julia Hudson's 7-year-old son Julian King was found dead days later in a stolen vehicle. The new documents show detectives first interviewed Jennifer Hudson shortly after the killings, and she said there was tension between Julia Hudson and her estranged husband. Balfour was initially held by police for parole violations, then arrested for murder five weeks after the killings.

Additional details on the case against Balfour have been trickling out. Prosecutors say Balfour attempted to solicit a fake alibi and threatened to kill his estranged wife and the rest of the Hudson family. Hudson may take the stand. Jury selection begins Thursday. Opening statements will begin April 23.
