One For The Road: Happy Birthday, Spencer Tracy

By Samantha Abernethy in Arts & Entertainment on Apr 5, 2012 10:40PM

Spencer Tracy was born on this date in 1900. The "Actor's Actor" starred in some of the best films, and when he played alongside Katherine Hepburn his star shown ever brighter. Below is his speech from one of our favorite films, Inherit the Wind in which he plays the role based on Chicagoan Clarence Darrow in the story based on the Scopes "monkey trial". The only thing that could make this film more perfect is if Hepburn were in it. This film was made in 1960, but these same arguments between religion and law continue just as strongly today... "because fanaticism and ignorance is forever busy and needs feeding."
