Opening Day always makes me feel like kid bringing his third baseman's glove to Wrigley Field. (I'm a White Sox fan now, but I did grow up root, root, rooting for the Cubbies.) Today's weather for the Friendly confines is as follows: 49 degrees (wind chill 43), sustained northeast winds at 15 MPH. Sorry, but the weather is out of Theo Epstein's control.

For the rest of the city, areas further away from the lakefront will feel a slight uptick in the mercury: three-to-four degrees. Skilling Central says this forecast is the coolest in over a month, but the winds off the lakefront will keep frost from setting in. That's a blessing for those of us who have seeds in the ground, since the National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch until 8 a.m. tomorrow.
