Weekend Dance Party: "Get Fresh" At The Whistler

2012_04_getfresh.jpg Hey there. It's been a while since we've given a Weekend Dance Party pick. Then again, dance parties never die, and when the moment strikes, we want to tell you about it. Our pick this weekend for you to get down is the recently-minted "Get Fresh", a new monthly at The Whistler hosted by Dino Soccio of Only Children.

Though The Whistler lost its premier mixologist Paul McGee, the Logan Square cockatil bar has kept things going strong, with a particular focus on party vibes on the weekends. Soccio's "Get Fresh" is proof positive of this expanded route, as it focuses on "underground and 'above ground' dance pop ranging from '90s R&B/dance and hip hop to modern house, futurebass, and new disco." In other words, it's a night of party jams of all walks of life. And given Soccio's prowess as a DJ and producer, we can expect an eclectic night of all things good. It stands to be a very busy Saturday at The Whistler, so here's a pro tip: get there before 11 p.m., or expect a bit of a wait in line.

"Get Fresh" is this Saturday, The Whistler, 2421 N. Milwaukee Ave., 10:00p.m., FREE, 21+
