This summer, Cleetus Friedman of City Provisions teams up with local breweries, wineries, and distilleries for his 2012 farm dinner series.

We joined Friedman last summer for a farm dinner with Two Brothers Brewing at La Pryor Farms in Ottawa. The dish in the photo above was the third of five: smoked pork hock, rainbow chard, kale, summer squash, Moody Bleu cheese, carrot, cucumber, and hard boiled egg, paired with Two Brothers Domaine DuPage. Ready to hop on board?

Every detail of the farm dinner is thoughtfully aligned with City Provisions' mission of promoting local, sustainable food. Guests ride out to the farm on a biodiesel bus while sampling beer and small plates. The farm owners give guests a tour while Friedman and his staff prepare the family-style meal. All ingredients are local; the pork we ate was raised at the farm where we ate it.

The schedule:

July 21st - La Pryor Farms in Ottawa with Greenbush Brewing and Koval Distillery

August 18th - Dietzler Farms in Elkhorn, Wisconsin with 5 Rabbit Cerveceria and Few Spirits

September 8th - Heritage Prairie Farm & Apiary with Metropolitan Brewing and Templeton Rye

Farm dinners are $275 per person. The bus leaves at 11 AM and returns at midnight. Call 773-293-2489 for reservations.

City Provisions is also hosting a dinner series this summer at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Students from Green Youth Farms will introduce guests to organic farming and Death's Door Spirits will kick off the gustatory program with a cocktail hour.

July 18th - Finch's Beer Company and Vinejoy

August 15th - Two Brothers Brewing and Illinois Sparkling Co./August Hill Winery

September 5th - Bell's Brewery and Lynfred Winery

Chicago Botanic Gardens dinners are $200 per person. Call 847-835-5440 for reservations.
