Friend of Chicagoist and Roommate mainman Kent Lambert wrote to us last week about an event at Danny's Tavern in Wicker Park he is DJ'ing, part of a monthly event series benefiting social justice organizations called Peace Party.

Tonight's benefactor is Tamms Year Ten, for whom Lambert volunteers. Tamms Year Ten is a coalition formed to protest conditions at Tamms Correctional Center located in downstate Illinois.

(Gov. Pat Quinn recently proposed closing the prison, which has critics fretting about safety issues.)

Lambert says he, along with Jocelyn Brown, David Marques and Naomi Walker, will be DJ'ing the event, which will donate a portion of bar proceeds to Tamms Year Ten. Lambert organized past events for Tamms Year Ten, including two fundraisers at The Hideout in 2008 and 2009, respectively. The event starts tonight, April 9, at 9 p.m., is 21+, and is located at 1951 W. Dickens Ave. Tonight's Peace Party is the last for Naomi Walker, so, if nothing else, go to wish Walker a bon voyage.
